De nuevo, concursos. Make some Green Competition es el concurso internacional de diseño organizado por Keeseh Studio, en el que los productos debían ser realizados con material de desecho. Los de ObjectbiS me chivan a través de su blog que ya se pueden ver los premiados en la web de Keeseh. El ganador ha sido Edward Browka, de Ecovative Design, por el diseño de packaging Negative Volume, que utiliza desechos de la agricultura para crear un envase completamente biodegradable, que puede ser utilizado como excelente abono para plantas, volviendo a la tierra, de donde surgió. Make some Green Competition results. The winning entry was submitted by Edward Browka of Ecovative Design, from New York, for his innovative packaging design. His design, “Negative Volume”, utilizes the natural bonding between agricultural wastes to create structural forms ideal for packaging. The product is a biodegradable replacement for polystyrene and Styrofoam. Negative Volume is a completely compostable product that utilizes agricultural byproducts, meaning it also serves as a great fertilizer for the home garden after use. Negative volume can be manufactured at competitive costs with existing packaging solutions. “Negative Volume can deliver your product – and the environment – intact.” +: Ecovative Design También obtuvieron otros tres proyectos un accésit: Sarah Turner, con su lámpara hecha a partir de botellas de cola, una manera creativa de reciclar estos residuos. 3 runners up: Cola bottles are used to create this lamp, taking them from their original state to a state that makes their original form almost unrecognizable. Sarah Turner found that a surprisingly low percentage of bottles are recycled in the UK and she wanted to find a creative use for bottles instead of adding to the ever increasing numbers being discarded in landfills. +: Sarah Turner David Gardener, con una lámpara de pulpa de papel, que resulta ser su propio embalaje.

A lamp designed by David Gardener, created to eliminate unnecessary packaging. Designed from paper pulp, the lamp's spindle houses the plug, energy saving bulb, socket, and electrical cable during transportation. The pulp packing, made completely from recycled newspaper, is strong, durable, and entirely biodegradable. +: David Gardener Y Contexture Design, por sus Bentwood Coffee Cuffs, unos brazaletes para no quemarse al tomar café realizados con recortes de chapa de madera que se recupera de una industria local que utiliza maderas exóticas y se le da forma de manera artesanal. And Contexture Design for their Bentwood Coffee Cuffs. Coffee Cuffs are made from reclaimed architectural veneer off cuts. Exotic wood scraps from local industry are formed, glued and shaped by hand in Contexture’s Vancouver workshop. Formed as a take-out coffee cup, the Coffee Cuff satisfies both form and function – the bracelet doubles as a java jacket. +: Contexture
