Sweet disposable

Los productos desechables son un dulce para Emiliano Godoy, que saca partido a materias primas biodegradables tales como el azúcar, la salsa tártara o el colorante alimenticio para crear objetos predestinados a tener una vida no demasiado larga. Godoy considera el punto en el que el producto es desechado como el más importante en su ciclo de vida, y es en el cual se centra a la hora de diseñar un producto; es por eso que en la lámpara de la imagen superior y en el tee de golf de la imagen inferior usa azúcar, un material natural que moldea, deja secar (sin usar ningún tipo de fuente de energía adicional) y que su estructura cristalina le proporciona al objeto una extraordinaria resistencia.

Por supuesto, su superficie no se vuelve pegajosa con el tiempo, no atrae a los insectos y no se funde, sólo es soluble en agua, por lo que se trata de artículos completamente biodegradables. Lo único negativo es la tentación de usar la lámpara para endulzar el café con leche.

In the Sweet Disposable's project, Emiliano Godoy proposes an approach to design in which a product’s lifespan is matched by its material’s longevity. He uses sugar as an example of a short-term, environmentally friendly material for products.. Emiliano poses a scenario where objects’ appropriate disposal is imbedded in their construction, using nature as a source and destination for these objects.

This scenario also demonstrates the possibility of eliminating the need for reclamation and waste storage. By proposing both durable and non-durable products with a 100% biodegradable material, the disposal of the product is taken into the realm of design: every product will be eventually discarded, and it is only considering that as a prominent design criteria that we can guarantee a proper end.

On the picture above we see a table lamp, built of eight identical wedges.

On the lower picture we see a prototype of a sugar golf tee. This product, as many other leisure oriented object, is disposable from it's conception. The sugar alternative presents no harm to the environment or the golf course's lawn mowers.
